September Production Reduction: The date set for this Production Reduction is 9/22/08 to 9/28/08. They are having a limited amount of Maint Personel working at that time. Any questions contact me. My new cell phone number is 392-6221. I would list the number of people that they want to work but as you all know it changes everyday.

Outside Contractors: I asked the Co. to keep O/S contractors out of the plant for the Production Reduction time.

Hurricane IKE:  IKE might be responsible for a short work week this week because some of our materials come from that area that was hit by the storm. We won't know anything until word comes from Akron on what we can produce or not produce.

Grievences: I have been meeting on a limited number of grievences with the Co. and will hopefully have all grievences settled shortly within the next couple of weeks. It been tought getting all the necessary people together at the same time because someone was always on vacation that needs to be at the meetings.

I C D : The old Union Trailer is almost ready to start holding classes for different courses.

Budget: The Co. is watching their budget very closely. They are not getting known work out of the way now when we have the manpower to get it done. This will come back at them later when they wake up and find out that they made the same mistake that they have been making year after year after year.  More as it becomes available.

9/28/07

Training Coordinator: We should be posting for a Maintenance Coordinator on Tuesday 10/02/07. Anyone interested on tackling this job should sign up for that position. The job will require this person to line up training for all the Graded Mechanical Depts.

Curing Dept: There were three production workers that took the written Mech's test and passed. They will move on to the next phase which will be the practical test. This should be set up & completed some time next week. WE need to get this moving asap!

New Union Hall: We still are on schedule to move in to our new Union Hall at the end of October or around the begining of November. We now have the sold sign up on the building and are making plans to close asap. The New Union Hall is located @  810 Sheridan Dr., right newt to the firehall.

Trucks: The Co. is looking at replacing the tuggers and the trucks that we now have in the plant. They are looking at going to hyster for this contract. This is supposed to be comming from Akron & they are doing this to all the plants. There is rumor that they want to replace the Garage Mechs. and outsource the repairs to these vehicles. We should have some info. next week as to what is happening with this and what they want to do.

Robots: The Robots are scheduled to be reactived and tested again to see if they are doing what we expect them to do. The Co. that sold them to us will be here to work with the Co. to get this system up and running. We'' see"!

                                        8/9/2007

Union Meeting: Our next Union Meeting will be on 8/21/2007.

Tireshop Mechanics: We are still waiting for a answer to see if we will get more mechanics for the 172 tire shop. The CO. is looking into putting 1 more Mech on each shift to help with the major breakdowns and to have quicker changeovers and perament repairs instead of temp fixes. More details as we get them.

Safety: Its very important to make sure that you have a burning permit each and every time you are involved with any type of burning or welding. The Goodyear Plants world wide have had a lot of fires lately and if they continue their insurance rates will increase. Most of these fires are due to welding and burning.

We also need to have a permit for any type of tank entry . If you are going into any type of confined spaces you will need to have a permit for them. You will also need to have a burning permit if you are going to do any type of burning or welding in these confined places along with proper ventilation.

Mechanice Test: We are now looking into changing the Mechanice test to all questions that have a  answer to them clear answer to them. Ex: true false, a,b,c,d or yes and no answers. All the questions need to have a defined answer.
